In the past, three to five decades, California, Washington, Oregon, and several western states have seen increased wildfires. Wildfires cost millions of dollars of damage, firefighting costs, and loss of life. It is important that you have a fire protection tank.
In August 2020 the SCU Lightning Complex fire swept through several parts of the western states burning close to 340,000 acres. Paradise was totally devastated in 2020.
In 2020, Salem saw a half million people forced to evacuate from wildfires. There were 900 acres of state parkland burned. Many structures were destroyed or damaged.
In 2021, Oregon again saw numerous wildfires spread across the state. The smoke from more than one of those fires hung over Salem causing air quality issues for residents.
In 2021Idaho had a major uptick in wildfires seeing over 115,971 acres of state land burned. Before that, the average was 20,049 acres in one year for 20 years.
Fire occurrence in 2021 was up 161% and the number of acres burned was up 578%. The governor added more firefighters and $150 million for future firefighting costs to the budget.
